Siding FAQs
What types of siding are available?
We offer, vinyl, fiber cement, engineered wood, metal, composite and wood.
Which siding is the most durable?
Fiber cement and metal are very durable. Durability will vary based on maintenance and install.
How long does siding last?
Vinyl will typically last 20 years, Fiber cement will last 30 to 50 years, and metal will last 30 to 50 years.
How much does siding cost?
There is a broad range of costs associated with siding such as product type, job complexity, and region.
Does siding increase my home's energy effciency?
Some siding types combined with insulation and foam backing will improve R-value. Taping the seams around openings is the most important to prevent air leakage.
Can I install new siding over old siding?
Maybe, if the substrate allows it to be a nailable surface. This is common practice on home built later than 1960. Typically we will want to remove the 1st layer behind the siding to see the substrate we are working with and make a determination from that.
Do I need a permit?
Most locations require a permit, consult with your contractor regarding whether one is required or not for your region beforehand.
Can I paint siding?
Products like fiber cement and engineered wood can be painted. We do not recommended painting metal or vinyl as the seams expand and contract and can show the original color under the siding.
